Conditions Treated
Acupuncture has been shown clinically and through advanced research to aid and influence pain and injury in the following ways:
Promotes blood flow to local muscle and tissue.
Activates a number of the bodies’ own opioids as well as improves the brain’s sensitivity to opioid biochemicals.
Releases biochemicals involved in pain reduction.
Advanced imaging and anatomical studies reveal the connection between acupuncture channels and nerve pathways in the legs and arms.
Activates and deactivates various distinct brain regions, one of them being the limbic system; a system of our brain involved in our behavioral and emotional responses.
Acupuncture has its origins based in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which holds its roots in Taoism. Taoism is a traditional philosophy which holds humans and nature should live in balance with the Tao, or universe. It is one of the oldest forms of medicine ever recorded.
As an acupuncture physician, we use a combination of Traditional Chinese medicine and sports medicine assessment/treatment techniques as part of our assessment to make an accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment plan.
Treatment plans are unique for each person, as each person can respond differently to injury and style of treatment. One of the strengths in being trained in Traditional Chinese medicine, is that the practitioner can detect subtle changes in the person’s day-to day condition and modify a particular treatment to fit your needs at the time.
